vScription Voice Settings Overview

You can access the vScription Settings menu from the main menu


Here is a description of each setting currently available in the vScription Voice for macOS product:

General Tab:


  1. Local Microphone / Smartphone Microphone:
    1. This lets you choose whether you are using a locally connected microphone or you are using your smartphone as a microphone
  2. Smartphone Client Name
    1. This lets you name the workstation you are on as it should be shown on your smartphone. This is helpful if you need to be connected to multiple clients at once. You may want to use EXAM1 for one exam room, EXAM2 for second etc....
  3. Recording Behaviour
    1. This specifies whether you want to use a toggle or push and hold recording behaviour. With toggle, you press once to start recording and again to stop. In push and hold mode, you hold down the button while recording and release when done.
  4. Scratchpad Font Size: (Will be available in version 1.0.7+
    1. This adjusts the size of the text when using the scratchpad
  5. All Text To Scratchpad:
    1. This tell the app to put all text into the scratchpad instead of the target window. This is useful if you need to click around various windows while dictating

Hotkeys Tab:


  1. Microphone Hotkey
    1. This is the keyboard key to use to record. This honors the recording mode set in the General Tab (Toggle/Push and Hold)
  2. Voice Shortcut Hotkey
    1. This is the keyboard jey that starts the Voice Shortcut recording. When pressed, the app listens for 2,3 or 4 seconds depending on your preference
  3. Scratchpad Transfer Key
    1. This is the key you can use to transfer any text from the scratchpad to your selected target window

Advanced Tab:


  1. Audio Buffer Size
    1. This is used for audio debugging and you will be instructed by support on how to enable this if needed
  2. Shortcut Timeout
    1. This determines how long the system will record your voice when inserting a voice shortcut. A lower value will make the action quicker but you will have less time to say the command.
  3. Use SayIt Button Mapping: (Version 1.0.8+)
    1. This sets the default button presses for SpeechMikes and PowerMics to be the same as SayIt (New default setting).

User Info Tab:


  1. Logged In As:
    1. This is the currently logged in account
  2. Logged In To:
    1. This is the server you are logged into
  3. Current Topic:
    1. This is the vocabulary your user account is set to
  4. App Version: 
    1. This is the current application version
